Australian Author, Jan Hawkins, was raised in the Australian bush on the outskirts of Sydney on the Georges River. Now residing in Queensland, she spent 20 years in education at secondary level in the IT field. Her love of computers pales in comparison to her love of the Australian bush and Jan now has quite a portfolio of photographs. She is passionate about the history of her country and a strong desire to discover and experience new places fuels her desire to travel extensively throughout the land. Along the way she relishes being able to listen to people and to share and enjoy the adventure she calls life.

WHEN TO GO
Copenhagen is on exactly the same latitude as Edinburgh and Moscow, and winters, as you’d expect, are wet, windy and cold, with temperatures regularly falling below zero, though if you’re prepared to brave the weather there’s the chance to go skating on the frozen city lakes before retreating for a comforting glass of hot gløgg. The city is at its prettiest in spring, when the trees come into leaf and people emerge from their layers of winter clothing. Summer weather can be variable: rain is a common occurrence, though when the sun appears the locals turns out in force, occupying every last corner of every park and pavement café, while the long summer evenings see the city at its liveliest.

Terrible maps and minimal info regarding transportation

As an experienced budget traveler, I've used many guides to many cities over the years, and I've generally had great success. This guide, however, was a tremendous disappointment. I found that the maps at the end of the book were virtually impossible to use - you couldn't connect one to another (if you were going across different sections of town), and they contained very few destinations on the maps themselves, so it was difficult to determine where things were in relation to each other.

The descriptions were lengthy, yet still lacking in content, particularly in terms logistics such as locations, how to get there by public transportation, prices, or hours.

I also learned an important general lesson about guidebooks - city guides are only worthwhile if you will be spending about a week or more in the city. For just a day or two, it's far better to get the country guide, as the portion on the city of interest will be more concise.

I'll stick to Let's Go (my favorite!) and Lonely Planet in the future.

The Ultimate Traveling Companion Guide

Much like the Kids' series, the Parents' Travel Guide is exceptionally helpful in showing parents how to navigate the troubling twists and turns of traveling with children in tow. With useful maps, information to interest the kids, and lots of tips and tricks available, the Guide offers the most exhaustive and complete collection of sights and cultural experiences that no parent or child will want to miss out on. Any vacation can be improved by understanding the how-to of traveling with kids, and this series is one of the best for making that possible.

A friend offered me this book just before we left for a trip to Rome with my 10 years old boy and I must say my husband and I were very happy to have it. Main attractions of the Eternal city and nearby are very nice and efficient structured in daily visits, with great tips for kids to enjoy it as much as parents. Highly recommend!

I purchased this parents travel guide together with the kids travel guide. As Rome is so reach with places to visit, this guide has been a great help to us when we planned our family trip. You will read this over and over!

I don't ever write reviews but... Victoria Tweed's Trilogies of Two Old Fools are too wonderful and funny not to let everyone in on! I prefer biographies so when I was searching the Kindle store I found the first in the series. Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools. I could not put it down. Chickens is about Victoria and her Husband Joe and their very daring move from England to a tiny village in the moutains of Spain. You will find yourself laughing out loud and yearning to be right there with them! If you want hours of enjoyable reading buy this books. You will not be disappointed.

Favorite Trilogy

I have LOVED all of the books in this trilogy and the last one did not disappoint. Laugh out loud delightful writing. I drive my family crazy following them around reading out loud. I just can't help sharing. I high recommend these books to anyone who is looking for a laugh or a literary trip abroad.

Two Old Fools on a Camel

Up until now "Chickens" was my favorite of Victoria Tweeds books but "Two Old Fools on a Camel" with its insite into a terrible time in world history surpasses it. It is riviting. She and her Joe live their normal day to day lives in the middle of the chaos of a war and teaching of school in a culture different from Spain or England. They did finally meet some of the King's camels and Victoria always with a heart for a beast painted a loving picture of them. The children,Fatima's overbearing mother, the insane teacher no one could stand, their own desire to be back at home in Spain all contribute to a wonderful story.Two Old Fools on a Camel ~ From Spain to Bahrain and back again
